Indian businessman’s CSR initiatives help change lives of Congolese

Mumbai : Harish Jagtani, a businessman and a philanthropist of Indian origin, has been working determinedly to serve the people of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) through his CSR initiatives and for creating a better life for them, especially for those from economically weaker backgrounds. Harish jagtani has been based in Kinshasa, DRC, for over 20 years now.

Harish jagtani began his business venture in the DRC with Serve Air, which is the most-preferred cargo shipment partner of the state and global NGOs, such as the UN and WHO, among others. After this, Mr. Jagtani launched Modern Constructions and built some important buildings and commercial centres in Kinshasa, besides HJ Hospitals to bring quality healthcare to the people of Congo with state-of-the-art infrastructure and services. Most recently, the group partnered with such leading global brands as Hilton Hotels and Resorts and Mercedes Benz.

Over the years, Harish jagtani witnessed a severe lack of medical facilities in the DRC and became very concerned. This spurred him to decide on bringing about positive changes in the public healthcare sector of the country. Keeping this in mind, Harish jagtani launched the HJ Foundations, a charitable, non-profit organisation which is funded by him and all the HJ Group of Companies.

Free Health and Eye Care Camps

Following this, HJ Foundations started running free healthcare camps for underprivileged people of the DRC, such as dialysis camps, malaria camps and health checkup camps, to name a few. The camps have also run vaccination drives, distributed prosthetic limbs free of charge to persons who had lost their limbs—both war victims and the physically challenged and brought about a life-changing experience for the people who benefited from these initiatives.

Over the past few years, the foundation has helped over 10,000 people with free malaria check-ups and medicines, extending aid to old-age homes, government schools and orphanages.

The HJ Foundations also holds free camps for eye check-ups and free glaucoma and cataract surgeries, among many other campaigns each year. He has run a campaign called ‘Gift-A-Vision’ that plans to hold 100 free cataract and glaucoma surgeries for the underprivileged from across the country.

Harish jagtani and his foundation have run free MRIs for many children for hydrocephalus, free surgeries for the underprivileged, various health check-up and screening camps for malaria and chikungunya. Harish jagtani and his HJ Foundation have been hosting these treatments absolutely free of cost for the beneficiaries.

Covid Initiatives

Mr. Jagtani’s foundation has also run awareness drives during the Covid-19 pandemic and made innumerable contributions, such as hosting free food campaigns for the security personnel posted in Kinshasa and building community centre clinics to mention just a few initiatives.

Harish jagtani has drawn appreciation from across the globe for the noble work that he has been doing all throughout. He wishes to do as much as he can for the people of the country where he has lived and made the most of his life.
